We understand that company news doesn’t generally have broad appeal to those outside of a company’s inner circle, but every once in awhile, we have an opportunity to get involved with a good cause that trancends technology and business and brings together the entire community.
Earlier this month, The Great North Snowdogs Trail kicked off to raise funds for Newcastle-based St Oswald’s Hospice. St Oswald’s has been providing dignified and compassionate care for children with incurable conditions, as well as their families, across the North East for over 30 years.
The Great North Snowdogs Trail is an interactive public art event and fundraiser organized by St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice in conjunction with Wild in Art. The trail features Snowdogs sculptures inspired by the much loved animated short film, The Snowman and The Snowdog and individually designed by both well-known and undiscovered artists.
The Snowdogs will be on show through November 29 and will be joined by a pack of little Snowdogs sculptures designed by local school children. At the end of the event, the large Snowdogs sculptures will be auctioned off and the money raised donated to St Oswald’s Children’s Hospice.
We are honored to play a small part in supporting St Oswald’s mission and service they provide to the local community by sponsoring one of the 50 large Snowdogs and a ‘litter’ of three smaller pups. ‘Mojo,’ the large Snowdog can be found in the trail in Gateshead Metro Station and was designed by Sumit Sarkar (aka KrikSix), a visual artist based in the North West of England whose artwork takes the form of digital and canvas paintings and sculpture, 3D animation and work made in Virtual Reality, video mapping and work inspired by graffiti.
