In some respects, 2022 carried with it much of the same unpredictability as its predecessor. Skyrocketing inflation, recession fears, relentless supply chain issues, labor shortages, and consumer spending fears were all mainstays in 2022. The year also demonstrated that many of the lessons marketers learned during the pandemic, remain.
Specifically for marketers, dwindling ad dollars (a covid hangover) continued to draw a massive shift in focus over from paid search and paid social to the affiliate channel as a safe haven creating an overdue boom. The importance of leveraging the right data, being agile and adaptable, and practicing perseverance in the face of uncertainty, adversity and ultimately, recovery, were underscored.
